about

Mark CuetoWe’re a comprehensive school - and we’re proud to be a comprehensive school. We’re also a very large school and we know that pupils worry about feeling ‘lost’ here - in truth, though, we try really hard to see every pupil as an individual with their own individual needs. This might mean encouragement because they’re brilliant at rugby (England international Mark Cueto was a pupil here), help with difficulties in Maths or remembering that someone may have troubling medical issues. We can’t boast that every adult in school will know every pupil - but we know that every pupil is known really well by the people who matter most to them.

We would love to be able to claim that our school has attractive buildings…we can’t - they’re best described as ‘functional’…but we have developed them so that classrooms are really well equipped for the sort of exciting learning that we foresee in the future.

Staying up to date matters to us. Interactive whiteboards make learning more fun and more varied. We have over 50 of them but, much more important, our teachers are highly skilled at making the most of them.

Similarly, we have over 400 computers for pupils to use - again, what’s critical is making sure that pupils’ learning is improved by using new technology.

pupil workingEvery pupil at Alsager School is successful at lots of things. We will send postcards home to tell you when we are pleased with your child. We organise College Celebration events every year to give children pats on the back for their achievements - this might be anything from being the top ICT student, being an ace cross country runner or being exceptionally courteous and helpful. Rewarding achievement and giving praise is at the heart of what we believe.

We care about our environment. We spend a great deal of money keeping the school looking its best. Children are encouraged to avoid dropping litter and to take a pride in their school. We're all working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and to show children how they can join in too.
